Competition is just another aspect of grappling. Many people train but never compete and that is fine. Competing isn't for everyone. I strongly encourage people to try it at least once. I think it's the best tool to help you improve quickly. It's like a shortcut to help you find your weaknesses.

What if competition is your weakness? haha. Actually, now that I have started examining and working on my competition anxiety it has helped me to examine (and better deal with) other stressful life situations. Another example of better living through bjj.
